Short answer: grey-market gear is genuine equipment imported outside the brand’s official local channel, so it is usually cheaper but may not carry a local warranty, while locally warranted stock costs more because it comes with cover you can claim in Pakistan; both can be authentic products.
Genuine is not the same as warranted
A grey-market camera can be a real, brand-new product. The difference is usually the warranty and support route, not the product itself. Fake or refurbished items sold as new are a separate problem.
How to check gear before you pay
- Check the serial number on the body matches the box and invoice.
- Look for factory seals and complete accessories.
- Check the shutter count on used-looking cameras.
- Ask which warranty applies and get it in writing on the invoice.

Where a model is sold both ways, we show the 1 Year Warranty and without warranty versions on one product page with separate prices, so you can choose knowingly. See how to check a camera warranty.
