Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S Lens

Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S Lens

The Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S Lens is an exceptional standard zoom lens engineered specifically for the Nikon Z-mount mirrorless camera system. Covering a highly practical and versatile focal length range from wide-angle to portrait-length, this lens is ideally suited for a wide variety of photographic genres, including sweeping landscapes, detailed architecture, candid street photography, environmental portraits, and everyday travel moments.

One of the standout features of this lens is its constant f/4 maximum aperture. Unlike variable aperture lenses that lose light as you zoom in, this constant aperture ensures a consistent exposure value throughout the entire zoom range. This makes it significantly easier to maintain your desired exposure settings when adjusting your framing on the fly. Furthermore, designing the lens with an f/4 maximum aperture rather than an f/2.8 alternative allows for a remarkably compact, lightweight, and balanced form factor. It is an optimal choice for photographers, enthusiasts, and content creators who prioritize mobility, portability, and comfort during long shooting sessions without having to compromise on professional optical performance.

The optical construction of the Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S is engineered to deliver stunning visual fidelity. It features a sophisticated optical design that incorporates a unique aspherical extra-low dispersion element alongside three traditional aspherical elements. These precision-crafted glass elements work harmoniously to effectively minimize chromatic aberrations, color fringing, spherical distortions, and coma across the entire zoom range. As a result, users are rewarded with high image sharpness, remarkable clarity, and true-to-life color rendering from the absolute center of the frame out to the extreme edges.

To further enhance image quality in challenging lighting environments, Nikon has applied both Nano Crystal Coat and Super Integrated Coating to the lens elements. These advanced proprietary coating technologies successfully suppress surface and internal reflections, drastically reducing unwanted lens flare and ghosting when shooting directly into bright light sources or under harsh backlit conditions. This results in imagery boasting enhanced contrast, deep blacks, and brilliant highlights.

Complementing its superior optical capabilities, the lens is equipped with a smooth and quiet stepping motor AF system. This autofocus motor delivers fast, incredibly precise, and near-silent performance, making the lens equally capable for capturing fast-moving still subjects or recording professional-grade video where background audio interference must be avoided. Full-time manual focus override is readily available for photographers who prefer fine-tuning focus adjustments manually. Additionally, the lens utilizes an internal focusing design, meaning only internal lens groups shift during focusing, helping to maintain the physical balance and overall length of the lens while accelerating focus acquisition speeds.

Usability is further enhanced by a programmable control ring integrated onto the lens barrel. By default, this ring is configured for smooth manual focus control, but it can also be easily customized via the camera menu to adjust aperture settings or exposure compensation on the fly. For videographers, a specialized electromagnetic aperture mechanism ensures exceptional exposure control stability during rapid continuous shooting rates.

Built to withstand the rigors of professional field use, the lens barrel features an extensive weather-sealed construction, protecting internal components against dust, moisture, and inclement weather conditions. Additionally, the exposed front lens element features a protective fluorine coating that actively repels dust, grease, water droplets, and smudges, making it effortless to wipe clean. Finally, the clever button-less retractable design allows the lens to shorten physically when not in active use, ensuring it takes up minimal space in your camera bag while remaining ready to shoot in an instant.
