Combining a flexible 17-40mm focal length with a constant F1.8 maximum aperture, it delivers excellent creative flexibility for photography and video production. As part of Sigma’s prestigious Art series, this lens is designed to provide outstanding optical performance throughout the zoom range. Whether you are shooting portraits, landscapes, events, street photography, product videos or professional content, the Sigma 17-40mm F1.8 DC Art offers a powerful combination of speed, versatility and image quality. ### Constant F1.8 Maximum Aperture One of the biggest advantages of the Sigma 17-40mm F1.8 DC Art is its constant F1.8 aperture throughout the zoom range. This allows photographers to maintain consistent exposure when zooming and capture images in challenging lighting conditions. The wide aperture also provides greater control over depth of field, helping create attractive background separation and smooth bokeh. It is especially useful for indoor photography, portraits, evening scenes and creative video production. ### Versatile 17-40mm Focal Length The 17-40mm focal length provides flexibility for a wide range of photography styles. The 17mm wide-angle setting is useful for landscapes, architecture, interiors and group photography, while the 40mm end works well for portraits, everyday photography and product shots. On Sony APS-C cameras, the lens offers a full-frame equivalent field of view of approximately 25.5-60mm, making it a practical everyday zoom lens. ### Advanced Optical Construction Sigma designed this Art series lens with 17 elements in 11 groups, including four Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements and four aspherical elements. This optical construction helps control chromatic aberrations and distortion while delivering detailed images across the zoom range. The lens is designed to provide impressive resolution and image clarity, even when shooting at its maximum F1.8 aperture. It helps photographers capture moving subjects while providing smooth autofocus operation for video recording. This makes the lens suitable for portraits, events, interviews, product videos and everyday content creation. ### Internal Zoom Mechanism The Sigma 17-40mm F1.8 DC Art features an internal zoom design, meaning the lens maintains its physical length while zooming. This provides a more balanced setup and is particularly useful when using camera rigs, gimbals and other filmmaking accessories. Its design also helps maintain a consistent shooting setup during video production. ### Designed for Video Production With minimal focus breathing, quiet autofocus and a constant F1.8 aperture, the Sigma 17-40mm lens is a strong option for video creators. Its versatile focal range works well for interviews, cinematic footage, product demonstrations, travel videos and professional content creation. The lens also features an aperture ring and two AFL buttons, providing convenient control during photography and video work.
